The Rainmaker Platform is a complete tool to create a website, no matter its needs. It’s a customized WordPress CMS and it brings all the features you can think of built-in. One of the most requested features is the email marketing solution and it’s so important that it has its own name on the platform: RainMail.
Until 2019, Rainmail was totally powered by Feedblitz. Howerver, according to the business needs, the company decided to migrate to a different solution. After researching the most relevant providers, I suggested using Sendgrid, which had almost all the features Rainmail needed. The suggestion was accepted and it took me only some months to have a fully working email solution inside WordPress.
It included some important features like:
- Responsive e-mail templates
- Sending schedule
- Segmentation by Custom fields
- Drip sequences and marketing automation, which was not provided by Sendgrid and I needed to implement it from scratch with cron jobs respecting many different rules.
- Cool charts and Statistics to learn
Everything into WordPress, made like a regular WP plugin and powered by an external API that offered reliability, scalability, and an amazing deliverability rate.
The biggest challenge of this project was to migrate all the existing customers (+1000) from Feedblitz to Sendgrid. Many of them had hundreds of thousands of subscribers and I created a very optimized batch process with a great log system to migrate everything from each customer to the new solution. The process ran very well since the first try and, before leaving the company, I made a full documentation of RainMail. It included all the features, the details behind each feature, how to migrate, etc.
